Invest Salone Portfolio Coordinator

What you will be doing

Invest Salone (ISL) is a six-year programme (2019-2025) funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) with the goal to raise incomes and generate jobs by facilitating domestic and foreign investment in tradeable sectors such as agriculture, tourism, fisheries and manufacturing. It does so through three workstreams: Market Development, Investment and Export Promotion, and Investment Climate Reform. Given the increasing scope of the programme as it commences Phase 2, the ISL team is looking for a Portfolio Coordinator to join the team in Sierra Leone and who will provide support to the Portfolio Manager. The Portfolio Coordinator will support the Portfolio Manager to ensure that the programme’s work is on-track to achieve the intended results, and that the activities are meeting technical requirements or are being adapted if required.

The Portfolio Coordinator will be based in Freetown and will play a vital role in ensuring the effective planning and delivery of ISL’s complex set of interventions, working closely with the administrative and technical teams and with oversight from the Portfolio Manager. The post holder will work with the Portfolio Manager to ensure that interventions are being implemented in line with work plans; that the programme is spending according to the budget; and that various technical inputs are received and integrated.

Responsibilities

Amongst other responsibilities, the Portfolio Coordinator will work closely with the Portfolio Manager to:

  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between the programme management team in London and the team in Freetown.
  • Conduct day-to-day monitoring of work plans to ensure that work is delivered on time against agreed schedules and is on track to achieve expected results, helping to identify and implement remedial actions.
  • Coordinate and prepare portfolio work plans, budgets and reporting (including quarterly and annual reports).
  • Coordinate, review and quality assure call-down statements (CDSs) for external consultants, memoranda of understanding, grant agreements, and all amendments thereto.
  • Review and quality assure internal programme documentation.
  • Ensure that appropriate contracts / CDSs are in place and that consultants are meeting their deliverables and milestones.
